Sweet little burros
image
Students in the Holley Middle School/High School Spanish Club recently spent an afternoon creating miniature piñatas. The group meets monthly to experience Spanish and Mexican cultures through music, crafts and food. After creating the colorful miniature burros, they put them on display at the reception desk for the rest of the school population to enjoy. In Mexico, piñatas are especially popular during Las Posadas, which are fiestas in mid-December, at Christmastime and birthday parties. During festivities, people traditionally sing songs while breaking the piñatas, which are filled with both candies and fruits.
