The Families First Coronavirus Response Act of 2020 authorized the payment of P-EBT food benefits to households with children who would have received free school lunches under the National School Lunch Act, if not for a school closure. These temporary food benefits are to help cover the cost of meals children would otherwise would have received at school, regardless if a student participated in the COVID-19 emergency meal program.
Child Nutrition requested information for all students in our district since we are under the Community Eligibility Program (CEP). Because every student receives a free breakfast and lunch, all students should be receiving a card.
When you receive the EBT cards, there are instructions and directions on what they can be used for. The cards can be used in any grocery store that accepts EBT cards.
