Student’s Creative Project Helps Community Center

Holley eighth grader Caitlin (Katie) Dobri found a creative way to spend her time while school is not in session. Along with her mother, Crystal, Katie made wooden squirrel picnic tables. After making 18 of them, they decided to sell them for $25 each to raise money for the Eastern Orleans Community Center. A package of squirrel food was provided with each table. After posting their fundraiser on Facebook, all the squirrel tables sold out within an hour, enabling the Dobris to make a donation to the Community Center of more than $500.

“Katie and I had a great time making them,” said Crystal. “We loved watching the squirrels at our table. My husband and I are so fortunate to be working through the pandemic. Putting food on the squirrel table is fun, but not a necessity. We decided we wanted to put food on our community’s table, too, to feed families in our neighborhood. Thank you to all who supported our fundraiser!”
