Positive COVID-19 Cases at HCSD

January 11, 2021

Dear Holley Central School District Families and Staff,

This notice is to inform you that two Holley CSD students have tested positive for COVID-19. The first is a HS student in our Alternative High School program and the second is an Elementary School student. The last day the Alternative High School student was in person was Monday, Jan. 4, and the Elementary School student was last here on Thursday, Jan. 7. The district is unable to legally disclose any other additional details or personal identifiable information about these individuals per the federal privacy laws.

The health department has informed us that students and staff connected to both of these cases will be quarantined. In each case, we are communicating with all involved. Given the unique setting of the Alternative High School, that program will be fully remote for all students at least until Friday, Jan. 15. The students and staff who will be quarantined for close contact of the Elementary School student have also been notified. In the meantime, if you don’t hear directly from the school district or the department of health, there’s nothing to do at this time.

If your son/daughter is tested for COVID-19 and you’re waiting on a result, please call the school nurse, so we can monitor the situation. We also appreciate hearing results from families ASAP, as individuals are typically aware of their results sooner than we hear from the health department. Thank you!

It is recommended that students and staff members continue daily monitoring for symptoms of COVID-19 which could include fever, loss of taste or smell, headache, cough, shortness of breath or difficulty breathing, sore throat, fatigue, congestion or runny nose, body aches and/or nausea. If these or unusual symptoms occur, please consult your medical provider. Thank you.

Please continue with safe practices of mask wearing, social distancing and frequent hand-washing.

Thank you for your continued efforts to remain safe.

Brian Bartalo
Superintendent of Schools
