District Update - June 12, 2020
Greetings Families and all in the Holley School Community,

The conclusion of this week brings us closer to the end of our school year. As students are finishing up final assignments and projects, we’re also excited to share successes and celebrations. This week, we had the annual MS/HS Awards Assembly via Zoom and moving up events for our Pre-K, Kindergarten and Sixth Grade students. Although these events couldn’t be carried out in our usual formats, we are proud of the accomplishments of our students, especially with such an unusual and challenging end to our year. Congratulations to all students on academic successes, awards and honors; we also send our congratulations to those who remained engaged and worked hard throughout the remote learning experiences.

Next week is our official final week of school. School leaders will be communicating plans for year-end distribution of report cards, return of laptops and other devices, and pick up of any student materials or belongings that are still at school. We continue to plan for our district commencement, and we will do all we can to provide the most together, in-person graduation ceremony we can. Seniors and parents of seniors will be invited to participate in a survey regarding our current options for graduation.

Elementary school parents, please look for the video release of the Holley Elementary Flag Day Celebration on Monday. Flag Day is officially Sunday, June 14, but since we couldn’t have our traditional community event, families will be invited to view a special video tribute of Flag Day on Monday, June 15. Thank you so much to the Holley Elementary School administration and staff for all their work on this video. Missing Flag Day is just another example of the difficult changes we’ve had to endure with the COVID-19 situation, but we continue to do our best to find a way to offer the best we can. Recognizing and celebrating Flag Day the way Holley Elementary School does is another example of the spirit of patriotism and community pride that is Holley. Thanks for taking the time to watch the video.

On June 16 after 5 p.m., our Board-approved election inspectors will begin to count ballots for our 2020-21 Budget Vote and Board of Education Election. This process will be overseen by our School District Attorney Jeffrey Martin, and it will take place in the MS/HS Dining Hall. We have a very specific protocol to follow, keeping the act of opening envelopes separate from unfolding ballots to maintain voter privacy. Our inspectors will be trained on this procedure, and they will sign a statement of confidentiality regarding their participation in the absentee ballot process. Results will be announced as soon as the process is complete. Thank you to all who exercised their right to vote!

I hope everyone enjoys the sunshine that’s supposed to be present this weekend. Stay safe and remain healthy. As always, thank you for your ongoing and continued support of our students and our district.

Stay Strong, Holley!
