Greetings Families and all in the Holley School Community,
On June 7, the Governor announced an Executive Order that was released on June 8, extending the deadline for school districts to receive 2020-21 school budget and board of education election absentee ballots by mail.
In order to be counted, absentee ballots can still be dropped off to the ballot box placed outside district office until Tuesday, June 9, by 5 p.m. If mailed through the U.S. Postal Service, they must be received by Tuesday, June 16, at 5 p.m.
After the June 9 at 5 p.m. deadline, the district will not be able to accept any ballots submitted in person, through inter-office mail, or placed in our ballot box outside District Office. The Governor’s order is clear that hand-delivered ballots are only able to be received by 5 p.m. on June 9. However, all ballots received by U.S. Mail will be allowed and counted if returned by Tuesday, June 16.
AFter 5 p.m. on June 16, our Board-approved election inspectors will begin to count ballots. This will be overseen by our School District Attorney, Jeff Martin, and ballot counting will take place in the MS/HS Dining Hall. We have a very specific protocol to follow to keep the act of opening envelopes separate from unfolding ballots to count them, maintaining voter privacy. Our inspectors will be trained on this procedure, and they will sign a statement of confidentiality regarding their participation in the absentee ballot process.
