Holley Central School District News Article

Opening Week of School

Greetings Holley Families,

We are a week into the 2022-23 school year and I want to share some information.

Our students returned excited and ready to learn, and our teachers and instructional staff did a fantastic job preparing for the start of the year. Back to School Night was a great success! We had a fantastic turnout from families, and we were thankful to the PTSA for sponsoring the food trucks. We are very excited for a “back to normal” school experience this year full of rigorous academics, fine arts, athletic competitions, and many extracurricular activities and special events.

We worked very hard over the summer to ensure that all our teaching positions were filled. We are still looking for substitutes (certified or not certified) in all areas, so if you’re interested, please apply using the links on the Job Opportunities page: https://www.holleycsd.org/JobOpportunities1.aspx.

Unfortunately, we haven’t been as successful in filling positions in our transportation department. We are in need of full-time, part-time and substitute bus drivers. We are also hiring bus attendants. If you are interested or have questions about opportunities in our transportation department, please contact Human Resources (638-6316, ext. 2323), the Transportation Dept. directly (638-6316, ext. 2200) or visit our Job Opportunities page: https://www.holleycsd.org/JobOpportunities1.aspx.

Due to staffing issues, we have experienced some challenges with our bus schedules. We are fully aware of the concerns and have been working hard to correct them. One area we are working closely on addressing is our communication with families when a significant change in schedule, time of pick-up or arrival will occur. We do apologize for any lack of communication or misinformation that has happened at the start of this school year concerning transportation. We also thank you for your patience as we work through these issues, especially as we seek to transport students safely and in a timely fashion.

Safety is our first priority when students are transported, as well as while they’re in our schools. This year, we have again contracted with COP Security (COPS) for our district security guards and service. There will be some familiar faces and some new members to the COPS team here on our campus, but we’re pleased that we have daily coverage of security in each school building again this year.

We are excited to again partner with families to ensure the best education possible for our students. We appreciate your support of the Holley Central School District and look forward to working with you to make the 2022-23 school year the best ever!

Respectfully,

Brian Bartalo
Superintendent
