District Update - Budget Vote and Board Election

Greetings Families and all in the Holley School Community,

As was reported last week, the Governor announced that all school buildings would remain closed for the remainder of the academic year. Unfortunately, this means that all spring sports were canceled as well as our planned events and activities.

We are in the process of awaiting additional guidance from the State and the Health Department to determine possibilities for our graduation ceremony and some other activities, especially for the members of the Class of 2020.  We have been planning several options, and we will be communicating with students and families as soon as we have updates to our plans and decisions are made.

Per the Governor’s Executive Order, the annual School Budget Vote and Board of Education Election have been rescheduled for Tuesday, June 9, 2020.  This order mandates that all voting must take place by absentee ballot; ballots must be returned to the district by 5 p.m. on June 9.  The district will be mailing more information about these requirements and details on the proposed budget soon, and posting information on our district website, too.  Our Budget Hearing is scheduled for Tuesday, May 26, at 6 p.m., and will be accessible via videoconference (Zoom) through a link on our website.

We understand that students may still have personal items that remain at school.  At this time, all school buildings remain closed to the public, except for essential personnel.  However, we are developing a plan to comply with social distancing rules, so students and families can safely retrieve personal belongings.  Building administrators will notify you of the dates, times and procedures, once finalized. Summer school and summer activities on our campus are unknown at this time.  We hope to have answers about summer programs soon.

Although our buildings remain closed, school is still occurring with our at-home learning plans and food distribution.  Thank you for all you’re doing to support instruction in the home, and encouraging our students to remain engaged in learning and to be as physically active as possible.  We know this isn’t easy, and again, please reach out if you have questions or need support.

Please do your best to remain safe and healthy. Stay Strong, Holley!
