Throwback Thursday - Drive-Through Prom

Here's the fourth of a series of articles that captured what happened in June at the end of the 2019-20 school year. Note: Photos of students, staff and families were taken following appropriate coronavirus measures that were in place at that time.

Holley High School held a drive-through prom in its bus loop in June. Seniors were able to stop at stations and pick up their caps and gowns, senior shirts, yearbooks, goody bags, mosaic tiles for graduation, folders of work compiled from all the years they attended the MS/HS, and take-out dinners. They were also able to drop off any items they had for the time capsule. Holley MS/HS teachers and administrators ran each station, excited to see their students again before the end of the unusual school year.

The final stop on the drive-through loop was a photo opportunity against the Holley Hawks backdrop. Each senior received a crown or tiara to wear, the ladies were given carnations, and all passengers in each car could pose for a group photo together. Some students wore formal attire that they would have worn to prom, while others dressed for a day at the beach. Photos were taken of prom couples, groups of friends, family members and their students, students and teachers, etc. Some students chose not to get out of their cars, but in all cases, smiles could be detected behind their masks, as everyone was happy to see some familiar faces in-person again.
