Holley is a family-oriented community of rich farmland and affordable country living. Along the historic Erie Canal and in the county of Orleans, the area is noted for its fruit, vegetable and dairy farming.
The Village of Holley is a tight-knit community and for the past 60 plus years, residents have come together every Flag Day to watch Holley Elementary students parade into the town square, flags in hand, and hear the band and chorus perform.
Holley students have many opportunities to learn about community service and get involved. Beginning with our youngest learners, elementary students get to participate in the Annual Heart Challenge (formerly Jump Rope for Heart) to raise funds for the American Heart Association's research and programs. In over 30 years, the event has raised over $250,000 thanks to the efforts of students, parents, staff and community members. Community involvement doesn't stop there. Many extracurricular groups prioritize community service throughout the school year. This includes the Annual Clean Sweep hosted by the MS/HS service club, Interact, and the elementary service club, EarlyAct. Both clubs are sponsored by Holley Rotary. Other clubs and athletic teams volunteer annually at the Eastern Orleans Community Center, SUNY Brockport Games for the Physically Challenged, Rochester Salvation Army Holiday Toy Shop, and more.
For over a dozen years, Holley has hosted a Senior Citizen Appreciation Breakfast to thank the district’s seniors for their support over the years and to honor Older Americans Month observed in May. High school student volunteers help host the event. Attendees enjoy performances from the High School Choir and kindergarten classes.
Holley graduates often go on to study at one of the eight colleges and universities within 50 miles of Holley, including Monroe and Genesee Community Colleges, The College at Brockport, the University of Rochester, Rochester Institute of Technology, and University at Buffalo.
