This calendar was created to raise awareness of specific days or months that celebrate or recognize a cultural group. Knowing this information can help us connect with our students and colleagues in new ways, help us prepare for days where students and colleagues may be disengaged or absent from school, and/or provide us opportunities for teachable moments that advance our goal of creating a welcoming and affirming environment. It is a work in progress, and as such, may be missing other important dates. This work was undertaken by a team of educators of good will and intention. As we continue to learn more about diverse cultures, we will update this calendar accordingly.
