Weather-Related Closing Information

Weather-Related Closing Information

In the event of school delays/closings due to weather related conditions, the following protocols will take place:

  1. CANCELLATION OF AFTERSCHOOL EVENTS - in the event we need to cancel afterschool events, the District will attempt to do so no later than 1:30 p.m.
  2. ALL DAY CLOSING - The District will do everything possible to make the decision to close schools no later than 5:45 a.m. Closing information will be sent through ConnectEd. If you have not received a call from this system, it may be that we do not have current information.  Please review the information provided to the school on a regular basis and contact your school office with any changes, corrections or additions. There will be no bus service to out of district placements if Holley CSD is closed due to weather.
  3. TWO HOUR DELAY - The District will do everything possible to make the decision to delay no later than 5:45 a.m. All schools will start two hours later than the normal start time. There will be no morning Pre-K as well as no transportation to WEMOCO as the high school students will be picked up at their homes two hours late and taken to the MS/HS. A light breakfast will be available and regular lunch service will be provided. Bus pick up times will have a two hour delay from usual pick up times.
  4. WIND CHILL CONCERNS - As always, the safety of our children and staff is the basis of any decision.  Key factors that must be considered include current and projected weather conditions, road conditions, and, at times, temperature and wind chill factors. We begin to look carefully at possibly closing when there is a current or projected -20 degree wind chill factor. Health officials recommend that we consider closing school if the wind chill is expected to fall to -25 degrees or lower.

Ultimately, it is the responsibility of parents or guardians to make the final decision regarding school attendance. If schools are open, but parents feel the weather is too severe, they have the right to keep their child home. In this instance, we ask that parents call the school to alert the office of the absence and to make arrangements for missed work.
