PSAT Information

To learn more about the PSAT, go to the CollegeBoard Website.

When it is taken: The PSAT is offered annually. Typically, it is geared toward juniors since they could qualify for the National Merit Scholarship (more on that below). Also, it is practice for the SAT, which is typically recommended in the spring of junior year, or early fall senior year.

What it covers: The PSAT includes three sections: reading, writing/language, and math. Most questions are multiple choice, but some math questions are “grid-ins”. There is no essay.

Why it’s offered: The PSAT is a practice for students to take a standardized test. If students take the test during their junior year, they could earn recognition as a National Merit Scholar based on their school, which leads to a scholarship.

Registration: Unlike the SAT and ACT,  Holley can register students for the PSAT. More information will be available for juniors in the fall.
